Amazon Watch was founded in 1996 and works in close partnership with indigenous and environmental organisations across the Amazon Basin, particularly in Ecuador, Peru, Colombia, and Brazil. Its campaigns target corporate accountability, opposing extractive megaprojects that threaten indigenous territories and biodiversity. The organisation supports frontline communities through legal strategies, media amplification, and direct solidarity. Amazon Watch centres indigenous self-determination in all its work and is a prominent voice at the United Nations and in financial markets, pressuring banks and investors to withdraw from Amazon-destructive projects.
