Alianza Mesoamericana de Pueblos y Bosques (AMPB)
The Alianza Mesoamericana de Pueblos y Bosques (AMPB) was founded in 2010 and brings together territorial authorities of indigenous peoples and local communities protecting Mesoamerica's largest forested areas — spanning from Panama through Costa Rica, Honduras, Guatemala, and Mexico. AMPB facilitates political coordination, territorial monitoring, and ancestral-knowledge preservation across this arc of critical ecosystems including forests, mangroves, and coastal zones. The alliance runs a Community Communications Academy to amplify indigenous voices and has integrated forest carbon governance, satellite monitoring, and traditional resource management into community-led territorial plans.
