SPREP — Secretariat of the Pacific Regional Environment Programme
SPREP (Secretariat of the Pacific Regional Environment Programme) was established in 1982 and is based in Apia, Samoa. It serves 26 member nations across climate change adaptation, biodiversity conservation, waste management, and ocean governance. SPREP coordinates the Pacific's engagement with major multilateral environmental agreements including the UNFCCC, CBD, and Basel Convention. For a region of extraordinary ecological diversity and fragility — including some of the world's most important ocean and reef ecosystems — SPREP represents the governance infrastructure through which Pacific peoples protect their shared natural inheritance.
